Simon Thomas

Thanks for joining me for another great episode of One For The Road. This week I am joined by Simon Thomas. Simon first came to prominence when he became a Blue Peter presenter back in the late 90s. After six years on the famous children’s show, he went on to become one of the country’s best-known sports broadcasters on Sky Sports presenting the Football League and then the Premier League. In late 2017 Simon’s world was turned upside down after his first wife Gemma died from a rare form of blood cancer just three days after diagnosis at the age of just 40, leaving him and their eight-year-old boy Ethan behind. After years of having an all-or-nothing attitude to alcohol, Simon descended into a two-year battle with the bottle as he struggled with grief and mental health problems. Having finally decided enough was enough, Simon has now been sober for over a year. As well as returning to sports presenting with Amazon Prime and Sky Sports, Simon is now a well-respected speaker on mental health, grief, and sobriety and is also the president of Blood Cancer UK. He has also found love again and married Derrina in the summer of 2021 and they now have a daughter called Talitha together. If you want to connect with me via Instagram, you can find me on the insta handle @Soberdave https://www.instagram.com/soberdave/ or via my website https://davidwilsoncoaching.com/ Provided below are links for services offering additional help and advice for Simon.https://www.instagram.com/simonthomastv/https://bloodcancer.org.uk/www.drinkaware.co.uk/advice/alcohol-support-serviceshttps://nacoa.org.uk/Show producer- Daniella Attanasio-MartinezInstagram - @TheDaniellaMartinezhttps://www.instagram.com/thedaniellamartinez/ www.instagram.com/grownuphustle/ Learn more about your ad choices.
