Why the Fed should shoot for 0% inflation: Judy Shelton

Economic improvement over time is supposed to be achieved by having vigorous debate from those with varying perspectives. No one has a monopoly on great ideas that could unleash economic empowerment for households and economics. But as if often the case on these fronts, those with more fierce views on how to improve get put in a box as too extreme. That is where one could find Dr. Judy Shelton, a one-time nominee by former President Donald Trump to join the Federal Reserve board in 2020. Do we even need the Fed? Brian Sozzi asks her. "We have to go incrementally" she says. We shouldn't be talking about the Fed's next move" she adds. We should be talking about how people are doing, she suggests. Shelton was slammed by lawmakers throughout the nominating process for her support of the gold standard, among other more aggressive ideas to improve the economy and financial markets. Shelton didn’t win approval for the Fed board, but remains close to the Trump camp and is reportedly on his short list to be the Fed chair should he win four more years in the White House.  Yahoo Finance's Executive Editor goes in-depth with Dr. Shelton, who is out with a new book called “Good as Gold: How to Unleash the Power of Sound Money.” The pair discuss some of her perceived controversial ideas and if she has any interest in being Fed chair.
