108. The False Safety of Anger

When your child is experiencing anger they are experiencing a deeper emotion and then on top of that they are experiencing shame.  Shame that they can't have things that they want in the moment. Shame that they aren't good enough to get what they want. Shame that they can't achieve whatever it is that they're trying to achieve. And shame that their emotions are affecting other people.   If you are not clearly addressing the shame and just focusing on the expression of the meltdown then you are not addressing the true cause of your child's cyclical anger.
