Helping Your Marriage Through Difficult Times | POF157

Maintaining your relationship while raising a family isn’t easy. Even the best relationships can be impacted. I know first-hand how good it feels to have a partnership with your spouse in parenting and in life, but my husband and I have also struggled. My guest, Kimberly Beam Holmes, is here to help us through these ups and downs (using lots of acronyms! ;)). We talk about the steps that we (unknowingly) went through when we fell in love with our spouses, and how getting back to these basics can help us save a troubled marriage. The formula for falling in love is four stages:Stage 1 is all about attraction - physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritualStage 2 is accepting your partner for who they areStage 3 is about your attachment to the other personStage 4 is your aspirations for the future. Our marriages are all about aspirations at the beginning but then we get into the “stay the course” stage and thats where life begins to pull us apart. Having shared relationship and family goals can be one of the keys to staying together. We also talk about how pandemic life has put new and increased pressures on our relationships. It’s forced us to confront our issues instead of shoving them under the rug. Kimberly shares so many insightful tips that you will walk away with some tangible steps to making your marriage betterFor Kimberly’s tips discussed in this episode, please go to the Parent Toolbox to download them. www.parent-toolbox.comAbout Kimberly HolmesDid you know there is actually a process to falling in love and staying in love? Parents! We CAN change the world, starting with the way we're parenting our future. Up to this point in history, children have been seen as less than and parented in a way that uses power over a child. Most of us were parented in this way but there is a shift in thinking about the way we raise our kids. Parents don’t feel good about using shame, blame, criticism, punishments, and even rewards, to get their kids to listen. Parents are wanting a different way because they know from their own childhoods this type of parenting hurts and leaves us with scars we take with us through our adulthood. Each one of my episodes is designed to help you navigate the difficult journey of parenting but in a way that is more peaceful and intentional. I’ll show you how to get your kids to listen and cooperate without yelling, punishments and rewards. I’ll show you how to understand your own feelings and those of your kids. My intention is to bring you to a place where you feel connected with your kids and yourself (we often get lost when we become parents!). Tune in weekly for all the inside tips, tools and tricks I teach my private clients to help you build the family you always wanted, and to become the parent you always envisioned you would be. I promise to provide you with fun and entertaining content that will leave you seeing your kids and your reactions in a whole new light! Please make sure to share the episodes that give you goosebumps, and leave you feeling inspired! I am always grateful for every person who subscribes, leaves a review and rates my podcast 5 stars.
