Spotting Danger Before It Spots Your TEENS | POF143

Every time I talk to Gary Quesenberry, I learn something new.  The safety tips he’s shared with me have stayed with me.  I’m so excited about his newest book addition to his safety series, “Spotting Danger Before It Spots Your Teens”.   Gary has turned his career in law enforcement into teachings to help you raise your children safely, even if you don’t know what’s lurking around the corner.   Gary’s foundation is based on situational awareness: how people should act, reading the environment, identifying problems, knowing your options, and reinforcement through visualisation.  Gary and I talk about how to keep our teens safe in today’s ever-changing world - as a parent, it’s hard to keep up! Gary shares such wisdom in an easy-to-understand way, and well, I love listening to him because he has a great accent!  In this episode we talk about these important issues:  Understanding the risks teens face: online safety, school violence, exploitation Challenges that “pre-drivers licence teens” face: being home alone, being safe at malls movies and parks, sleepovers, school trips, and team sports Teens “on the move” who have more freedom and access to vehicles: drivers' safety, parties, and dating What I love the most about Gary and his book is that it’s something you and your teen can read.  I know your teen wants to make good choices and knowledge is power!   For Gary’s GENEROUS gift of the first few chapters of his book, “Spotting Danger Before it Spots Your Teens”, you can download it from the Parent Toolbox.  www.parent-toolbox.com As discussed in the podcast, you can visit these sites for more child safety information: Veterans for Child Rescue: https://vets4childrescue.org/  About Gary Quesenberry Gary Quesenberry was born in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, where his parents taught him the value of hard work, patriotism, and service to others. Parents! We CAN change the world, starting with the way we're parenting our future. Up to this point in history, children have been seen as less than and parented in a way that uses power over a child. Most of us were parented in this way but there is a shift in thinking about the way we raise our kids. Parents don’t feel good about using shame, blame, criticism, punishments, and even rewards, to get their kids to listen. Parents are wanting a different way because they know from their own childhoods this type of parenting hurts and leaves us with scars we take with us through our adulthood. Each one of my episodes is designed to help you navigate the difficult journey of parenting but in a way that is more peaceful and intentional. I’ll show you how to get your kids to listen and cooperate without yelling, punishments and rewards. I’ll show you how to understand your own feelings and those of your kids. My intention is to bring you to a place where you feel connected with your kids and yourself (we often get lost when we become parents!). Tune in weekly for all the inside tips, tools and tricks I teach my private clients to help you build the family you always wanted, and to become the parent you always envisioned you would be. I promise to provide you with fun and entertaining content that will leave you seeing your kids and your reactions in a whole new light! Please make sure to share the episodes that give you goosebumps, and leave you feeling inspired! I am always grateful for every person who subscribes, leaves a review and rates my podcast 5 stars.
