Starting Conversations with Kids & Learning Emotional Wellness with Witz and Marbles| POF53

We know that getting a child to talk is difficult, but getting them to share can be so hard!    Raising kids with strong emotional intelligence (EQ)  is like equipping them with a super power!  This can be hard to teach this to our kids if we don’t have strong emotional intelligence ourselves (being able to name our feelings and those of others).  Let’s face it, most of us weren’t raised with parents who were emotionally intelligent themselves, so many of us never learned how to be.  Don’t worry!  It’s something we can grow at any time (unlike our IQ).  When I met with Kristen and Kaaveh from Witz and Marbles, I was so excited to share what they do because their interactive activity kids help bridge that gap for kids and parents!!  They (like I do!) believe that the conversation should be ongoing, families need a safe space to share and children need to feel secure enough to do so.  Witz & Marbles have curated emotional wellness themed interactive activity kits filled with engaging games, thought provoking story books, sensory toys, activities and more.   Listen in as we talk about what feelings kids are having during the time of so much unrest and insecurity. About Kristen and Kaaveh from Witz and Marbles in Their Own Words I (Kristin) struggled with anxiety for most of my life.  In my first year as an elementary school teacher, there was a day I couldn’t take it anymore because of all the fights, bickering and tears.  Therefore, I stopped teaching the lesson that day.  They looked at me like I was crazy.  I began to share my stories as a child and I asked them to share theirs. The flood gates opened! Divorce, deportation, moving, anxiety, bullying (at home and at school), and lack of self confidence!  No wonder these kids couldn’t focus. I opened up the conversation, gave them a safe place to speak and they took it. I (Kaaveh) grew up struggling to deal with my mom's diagnosis of schizophrenia.  I didn’t tell my friends. I didn’t tell my teachers.  I didn’t know what I was coming home to. It totally consumed me.  I had to grow up fast and deal with things that kids shouldn't have to. Now as a dad, I know how important it is to talk about mental health, especially with my son, Jaxson.  I have to make sure I keep an open and honest relationship with him.   For a FREE KIT, email admin@parentingforconnection.com and include your name, mailing address, and the age of your child(ren) and we’ll enter you into the draw for one of two kits from Witz And Marbles!!  Draw ends, Monday, July 20th at Midnight PST. Parents! We CAN change the world, starting with the way we're parenting our future. Up to this point in history, children have been seen as less than and parented in a way that uses power over a child. Most of us were parented in this way but there is a shift in thinking about the way we raise our kids. Parents don’t feel good about using shame, blame, criticism, punishments, and even rewards, to get their kids to listen. Parents are wanting a different way because they know from their own childhoods this type of parenting hurts and leaves us with scars we take with us through our adulthood. Each one of my episodes is designed to help you navigate the difficult journey of parenting but in a way that is more peaceful and intentional. I’ll show you how to get your kids to listen and cooperate without yelling, punishments and rewards. I’ll show you how to understand your own feelings and those of your kids. My intention is to bring you to a place where you feel connected with your kids and yourself (we often get lost when we become parents!). Tune in weekly for all the inside tips, tools and tricks I teach my private clients to help you build the family you always wanted, and to become the parent you always envisioned you would be. I promise to provide you with fun and entertaining content that will leave you seeing your kids and your reactions in a whole new light! Please make sure to share the episodes that give you goosebumps, and leave you feeling inspired! I am always grateful for every person who subscribes, leaves a review and rates my podcast 5 stars.
