Episode 5 - Soul-nourishing conversation with Spiritual Director, Lucy Malone

In Episode 4, I invited you to experience how to listen to yourself and God first. Now, in this 24-minute episode, join a soul-nourishing chat with Lucy Malone, my spiritual director, as we continue the conversation about listening, spiritual direction, and how every moment is a miracle.

Lucy shares about how she was drawn into spiritual formation and then spiritual direction, defines "hospitality of the heart," and exhorts us to the value of listening.

"Spiritual Direction is not a guru or even a life coach. Spiritual Direction isn't counseling or therapy. It is a companion, and we're on the journey together and listening to each other, listening to God, listening to the Holy Spirit. And you need help sometimes. People need help seeing what's going on. That listening process, that discerning process is really better when you go to someone and they help you along. They guide you, and that's what a Director does."  - Lucy Malone

"Listening to a heart is one of the most important things you can do. It is a hospitality, a welcoming, a warmth... people need to be heard." - Lucy Malone

Daily Examen, a spiritual discipline, invites questions to reflect on at the end of the day:
1. How, today, was I drawn toward faith, hope and love?
2. What gave me life today, God?
3. What was draining today, God?

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. - Albert Einstein

Hi Friend! Bekah Jane Pogue here! Welcome to Pasture Experience Podcast. Inspired by Psalm 23, this podcast is an off-shoot of the retreats I host + facilitate in our Nashville home. This is a safe space to be honest with yourself, listen to God, and join soul-nourishing conversations with souls who are navigating their personal "pasture" journeys. Here, we turn talking and listening upside-down. Pasture is for those who have questions but don't have all the answers. Craving the beautiful balance between play + contemplation? Well, Come!
