Poem: A Peaceful Night

A Peaceful Night The stars are winking, My eyes are twinkling, Bare branches touch the sky. I stare into the gardens by, Quiet roads and foxes nigh. Neighbours sleeping, Kids are dreaming, Baby’s screaming. Curtains closing, Windows jerking. Lights are turning, Shadows lurking, Sandman’s flirting. I lay on my bed, A pillow for my head. Thoughts emerging, My mind is yearning, Brains still working. Awake till dawn, For breakfast a yawn. For sleep I mourn, A lost unicorn.
