Interpreting Prince in American Sign Language

Shelly Lehner is an American Sign Language interpreter and a longtime Prince fan. Lehner was one of the ASL interpreters at the Prince tribute concert last October. 'If hearing people are going to a concert, and they're experiencing this loss of Prince, deaf people should be able to go to that concert as well, and have access,' Lehner says. Listen to Lehner's full story, and visit thecurrent.org to watch a captioned video of Lehner's interview, and to watch Lehner give an ASL interpretation of Prince's song, "When Doves Cry."
