Peat obtained his PhD from Liverpool University and moved to the National Research Council of Canada where he carried out research in theoretical physics. In 1971 Peat took a sabbatical at the University of London with Roger Penrose and David Bohm. After returning to Canada, Peat left the National Research Council and continued to collaborate with David Bohm, as well as turning to writing books. Peat is the author of over twenty books.
