Did Ferrari snatch defeat from the jaws of victory once again?

On a week of bombshells in F1, Max Verstappen took his eighth and arguably his finest win of the 2022 season, climbing from tenth on the grid to take victory in Hungary.

By contrast, Ferrari had another poor showing, with Charles Leclerc losing the race lead and ultimately finishing only sixth following a botched tyre strategy. With Ferrari's operational errors having now cost Leclerc three potential victories in 2022, is there a problem with the leadership at Maranello?

Joining Michael Butterworth to discuss all the key issues from the Hungarian Grand Prix weekend is Dieter Rencken, Editorial Director of RacingNews365.

Away from the track, there have been shocks aplenty throughout the paddock, which began on the Thursday before the race when Sebastian Vettel announced that he would retire from F1 at the end of 2022.

Aston Martin moved quickly to replace Vettel, announcing on the Monday after the race that Fernando Alonso had signed on a 'multi-year' deal from Alpine. Why did the Spaniard elect to leave Alpine, and at 41 years old, what can he realistically achieve in an Aston Martin?

And with a vacancy now at Alpine, will the highly-rated Oscar Piastri be promoted to a race seat for next year?
