Rex Airlines thrown $50m government lifeline

The federal government has acquired $50 million of debt from embattled regional airline Rex's largest creditor, as the search for a buyer continues. In a rare show of bi-partisanship, the government's move to become the airline's largest single creditor has won the backing of the Opposition, who say Rex provides a crucial service to regional communities.
