What comes to mind when you hear the words “mercy” and “grace”? Pastor and author Paul Tripp defines mercy as “tenderheartedness and compassion toward someone in need.” John Newton wrote about God’s “Amazing Grace” in his beloved hymn. I like this definition: Mercy is not getting what you deserve.
