RARE & SCRATCHY ROCK 'N ROLL - #061 - THE COMPLETE HIT SINGLES HISTORY OF ART GARFUNKEL This is the second in our podcast trilogy covering the careers of two singers who were one of the most successful duos in music history – Simon & Garfunkel. We’re spotlighting their solo recording efforts before they came together for superstardom in the mid-1960s and then their many decades of individual hit songs after their act came apart in 1971. This presentation traces Art Garfunkel’s trajectory from a teen idol wannabe in the 1950s to a successful song stylist in the 1970s. You’ll hear his star-crossed connections with such singer/songwriters as Van Morrison, Jimmy Webb, Paul Williams, Stevie Wonder, David Crosby, Graham Nash, and Carole King, as well as his singular successes reimagining doo wop ditties from the 1950s and 1960s. This includes all of his singles as well as his failed 45s that should have charted, but didn’t – all in chronological order, along with the original versions by other artists. It’s our salute to Art Garfunkel.
