Lana Murphy on the moment she realised she wanted to be a mum

When I first met Lana Murphy, there was one description that quickly came to mind: sunshine in a human. She’s fun, she’s warm, she loves a yarn, and so, it’s unsurprising that when she’s not with her son, she spends her work days as a journalist working for Channel 9.And while she’s now excitedly awaiting her second baby, she didn’t always want to be a mum. So here, we find out what changed and what she’d go back and tell herself about what to expect from motherhood. She also tells us about her early days of cutting her teeth in journalism by heading to the bush and living in her family’s caravan, and what it’s been like returning to a demanding job and preparing to go on parental leave 2.0. This is such a fun conversation and I appreciate the way Lana so honestly describes the push-pull that so many women face when it comes to the question of motherhood and what the biggest role of all might mean for their career.—Thanks for listening!
