The Fabulous Maxi Shield
She’s one of Australia’s iconic Drag performers….if you’ve been to Oxford Street, Sydney, chances are you’ve seen this episode’s guest up on stage, dressed in something outrageously fabulous. This week we chat with Maxi Shield! For the past 25 years Maxi has become one of Australia’s most recognisable Drag Queens, and one of the stars of Ru Paul’s Drag Race Down Under. We’ve seen Maxi perform many many times. She’s fun, clever and a star on stage. Spending time with Maxi, we chatted about the early days of Les Girls that led the way for today’s performers, also the days of ‘Drag Magic’ when transformations seemed to occur before your eyes and what it’s like to express the ‘fabulous’ in yourself.
If you’re up for a fabulously fun night on the town in Sydney, Maxi is currently performing in Oxford Street at Ginger’s, also you can have brunch with Maxi on Sundays at “The Fannies”, a decadent breakfast display at The Park, Darlinghurst.
