06 | Angela Lee: Working on Yourself and Your Emotions

In today’s show, Cherry interviews entrepreneur and 37 Angels Founder, Angela Lee. Apart from being an angel investor, Angela also teaches at the Columbia Business School.

Back in 2006, Angela started off her entrepreneurial innings while she was a student at UC Berkeley. Later on, she went on to work as a consultant at McKinsey. While at McKinsey, Angela also started mentoring and training incoming consultants.

Perhaps, this experience of her set the foundation for 37 Angels – where Angela teaches angel investors how to become start-up investors.

The first project that she funded, Angela reveals was a movie on improving mental health awareness for the Asian community.

In the next segment of the show, Angela goes on to share how she has struggled with mental health. Depression is perceived as a sign of weakness – and a taboo topic that we often shy away from talking about. Cherry and Angela discuss why it is important to work on your mental health instead of just clamping down your emotions.

From being inexpressive and mildly depressive, Angela reveals how therapy has helped her enjoy an abundant and healthy relationship with her spouse.

Other topics discussed in today’s show include making a conscious effort to enjoy, practical tips to help you de-stress, using empathy and calmness to deal with depression, and much, much more...

We hope you enjoy this show!
