This evolves into a conversation about understanding research and how we can interpret the results. The “do your own research” crowd typically gathers minimal information from the actual studies they are investigating, if they even look at the studies at all. By reading headlines and the titles of reddit posts, the DYOR folks, or better yet, the “evidence based” crowd tend to overlook the counterfactuals and shortcomings of the research being done.
