Running from Trauma: Sexual Assault Experience, Modern Day Victim-Blaming, How To Support Victims

This was truly the heaviest episode I've recorded so far (hence why it's also my longest ha!). In all seriousness, I haven't been as open about my experience with sexual assault publicly as I have in this episode, this is something I've always wanted to do as I know not all victims have the privilege of testifying in a case. I also know that it's hard to hear that your family member or friend has experienced such a traumatic thing, so I wanted to include helpful tips for that audience! I solely wanted to record this episode in the hopes that I can open up the conversation a bit more, because sexual assault isn't something that's talked about enough, and it's time we start.  Statistic sources:  CDC website Rainn.org Song mentioned:  Rise Up - Andra Day Accounts mentioned (instagram):  Nayo Jones @womensrepublic_ @jessicarachelsharp  National Sexual Assault Hotline: 1-800-656-4673 I'm running for the Boston Children's Hospital for the London 2021 Marathon! Om Podcasten

In this podcast, we'll talk about the resiliency in running. Running has always been a steadfast for me and my favorite form of therapy, especially when I'm emotionally running from things like heartbreak, trauma, etc. Your host is Liz Newcomer, who will talk through the different relationships and traumas I've *run* from and how running has always been a constant for me. My hopes are to reach an audience that I'll be able to connect with and have an impact on whether you're able to relate, learn, or want to connect to continue the conversation!
