BEST OF ROCKBUSTERS BY KARL PILKINGOTN ON XFM - Part 1

PART 1 of a 2-part BEST OF compilation of Karl Pilkington's ROCKBUSTERS (a cheap knockoff of Blockbusters) from the Xfm Ricky Gervais Show with Stephen Merchant. Not only was this one of Karl's longest running features (along with Monkey News), but it was also voted by fans as his greatest XFM feature of all time. Karl Pilkington gives a cryptic clue (it's usually nonsense) and the initials of a famous band or artist (he sometimes gets the initials wrong), and listeners either call, or as the feature developed (unless they were experiencing technical difficulties), email in their answers. The winner gets an arbitrary assortment of tat, often including a pointless DVD seemingly chosen at random from the bargain bucket. This 2-part BEST OF ROCKBUSTERS Compilation is based on the comprehensive 6-part ROCKBUSTERS compilation of every Rockbuster segment from the Xfm Ricky Gervais Show (released previously). CHAPTERS: Weezer, Coldplay, Justin Timberlake (0:00) Destiny's Child, Puff Daddy aka Diddy, The Bangles (10:43) The Dandy Warhols, Holly Valance, Whitney Houston (17:59) Foreigner, Shalamar, Bananarama (25:33) Adam Ant, Pixies, Anita Baker (33:14) Four Tops, The Charlatans, Freda Payne (40:45) Busted, The Spinners aka Detroit Spinners, Born Slippy (48:40) Limp Bizkit, Turin Brakes, Terence Trent D'Arby aka Sananda Maitreya (55:17) Junior Senior, Alison Moyet, Buzzcocks (1:06:39)

Om Podcasten

Y'alright? Ages ago... People were sayin' this is the definitive fan-led remastering & lost content discovery project for the legendary XFM radio show with Ricky "Play a Record" Gervais, Stephen "Man Alive" Merchant and Karl "K-Man" Pilkington, with such gems as MONKEY NEWS & EDUCATING RICKY. The trio began their pointless, mind-numbing Saturday afternoon radio show in August 2001 on XFM, a shoddy tin-pot radio station. They did 4 radio series before launching their record-breaking podcast in 2005. Enjoy remastered episodes with lost bits, and original compilations! Not Radio X or Global.
