In this episode, Rachael and Kirsty dip their toes into the vast ocean that is the online fandom surrounding The Phantom Menace. Drawing from ancient internet forums, charmingly archaic fansites and listeners’ memories, we attempt to get a grasp on what the Star Wars fan landscape looked like in the period surrounding the release of The Phantom Menace. We discuss the wild (and not so wild) theories, the reactions and the fan sub cultures that sprung up, from the Darth Maul aficionados to the devotees of Queen Amidala and her handmaidens.
