The problem for NBC was how to put a science-fiction show on the air without setting it in space. The solution was to set it underwater and thus "Man From Atlantis" was created and premiered on March 4, 1977. Even with TV's Patrick Duffy, top guest stars and Star Trek veterans behind the scenes, the show had a tough time staying afloat.
