98. It’s Not About Your Academic IQ, It’s About Your Financial IQ with Retired Bankruptcy Court Judge John Ninfo

Retired Bankruptcy Court Judge and founder of Credit Abuse Resistance Education (CARE) John Ninfo joins the conversation this week. As a bankruptcy judge who sat on the bench for two decades you can imagine the stories he has to tell. One of the biggest takeaways from his long career is it’s not how much money you have, it’s how you manage it. He saw countless people who had plenty of money but allowed debt to get the best of them and ultimately ruin their lives. The credit industry is set up to encourage you to fail. That’s why it is so important to be aware of what’s going on with your finances. “It’s not about your academic IQ, it’s about your Financial IQ and the two are not the same” After retirement, Judge Ninfo created CARE a program designed to help encourage financial education specifically for the younger generation. As a parent, like many of you, I am always looking for opportunities to teach my kids valuable money lessons. Sitting down listening to this podcast episode together might be one of those opportunities.
