Being able to initiate and maintain a conversation is important in any setting because you're then able to make yourself known in a relatable way. Whether you’re heading to a networking event or a cocktail party, engaging in small talk can be intimidating and painful—especially for a quiet professional. If you are not seen as being extroverted, engaging in small talk can often feel forced or meaningless, which increases social anxiety. Instead of panicking and not attending the gathering, I’ve compiled a few party tricks to make engaging in small talk less daunting.
