E165: Lessons In Leadership from an Artful Attorney on Negotiating

Today’s fabulous guest on the Speak Up with Laura Camacho podcast is intellectual property attorney and personal friend, Angie Avard Turner. Angie knew she wanted to be an attorney since she was very young, but also had a creative side she wasn’t sure what to do with. As a young adult she attended law school in Michigan, moving back to Georgia after graduation. It was then that Angie began learning and exploring her creative side, especially through learning Adobe and working in design of paper products and other home goods. She started a company in the field which, to her surprise, completely took off. After 10 years she made the pivot back into law, helping those creatives she had gotten to know during her career in the industry protect their hard-earned work. In this fabulous and fun-filled 45 minutes, you will learn: The biggest mistakes made in the art of negotiation Why you need to be SPECIFIC and CONCISE in your negotiations The implications of more collaboration taking place across the business world How to represent yourself well in conversations The importance of being relational (regardless of your field or expertise) You can follow Angie on Instagram or LinkedIn.
