TUR #15 - More Like Lord FARTER

This episode was originally published on January 14th, 2020. === Oban is big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. You may think it's a long way down the road to Alwas, but that's just peanuts to Oban. Of course, every sci-fi adventure needs a good old-fashioned space pirate, and Lord Furter is here to scratch that itch. perhaps with his tongue. Of course, he's also the first dud rival in the show. Will we give him an unflattering nickname to reflect this fact? Well, you've already read the title. Also, Mary saw a real big stinkbug and in the process of moving away from the Bug Containment Zone accidentally unplugged her mic, and Audacity switched to the laptop mic without any of us realizing. Long story short, loud noise warning for 24:00, and then from about 26:00 onward Mary's audio quality is... less good than desired. We deeply regret the error and lay all of the blame on the stinkbug. === Click here for a comparison of three celestial bodies. That one on the far right? Oban is bigger than that one. http://www.scienceline.ucsb.edu/images/sun_Jupiter_earth.png Click here for Seagulls (Stop it Now): === Follow us on Twitter at @super_nuclear, or send us your feedback at supernucleargroup@gmail.com! Remember the cartoons you loved as a kid? Do you, like us, remember mid-2000s Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network with a mix of fondness and terror – or, if you don’t, do you want to know what the fuss was about? Join Mary, David, and Ben as we revisit the cartoons that shaped us in an episode-by-episode deep dive, as well as the Internet fan culture as it was then and is now. How do these nostalgic shows hold up? What do we think of them now, as not kids but sad adults? How has the zeitgeist and Internet following evolved along with us? We set out to answer these questions and also to be incredibly hilarious and physically attractive. We started in 2017 with Return to the Past: A Code Lyoko Retrospective, which ran from 2017-2019 and makes up the first part of this feed. Second was The Ultimate Reprise, which ran from 2019-2020 and covers Oban: Star Racers. Now we’re on The Avatar Recycle, hot on the heels of Avatar: The Last Airbender’s Netflix debut! Join us wheresoever you like. Watching along is not necessary - but highly encouraged – and we try to keep spoiler free up to the current episode!
