I Want To Believe
One of the greatest disservices we do to each other in today's culture is act as if we're great mind readers. We always seem to know (or think we know) the motives behind everything others say or do. The reason this is a disservice is that human beings are lousy mind readers. To a large degree, that's why everyone seems to be at each other's throats right now. In this episode we'll consider the negative effects of combining your mind reading talents (or lack thereof) with your built in confirmation bias. There is real danger is not understanding how your mind deals with information that either supports or invalidates your predispositions.
