SYS 051: Big LastPass Security Issue... And how to Fix it!

If you use a password sharing tool like LastPass Steve highlights a security issue you may not be previously aware of. If you provide passwords to your team via these apps Steve instructs you on how you can use them safely so this is no longer an issue.   KEY TAKEAWAYS  When running any business the number of passwords for sites, apps and software son mounts so apps like LastPass allow you to share all the required passwords with your team. When you share a password you can require the password to be masked. However, if there is a view password button available then the user can still see the full password by using it. When someone leaves the company it is a daunting task to change hundreds off passwords. Using LastPass you can put all your passwords into specific folders labelled available or unavailable. In this way you can classify all your passwords in groupings for individual team members usage.  When someone leaves you only have to change the passwords in the unavailable sections, the high security ones, to which they had access.   BEST MOMENTS  ‘In fact there is a major security issue and that is what I want to just talk about today.’ ‘We have about 300 passwords and about 150 of them are used pretty regularly and so the management of that if we didn’t have a app to do that for us would be a nightmare.’ ‘You’ve got to assume that when you share a password with somebody that they can view that password and therefore they can write that password down so even if you switch their access off in the password app they could still potentially have access.’  ‘This keeps the changing of passwords to a minimum but makes sure we are staying secure.’   VALUABLE RESOURCES Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/SystemsAndOutsourcing/ Website: https://systemsandoutsourcing.com/welcome-1 YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/drsteveday   The RIGHT Assistants For Your Business by Dr Steve Day  http://bit.ly/sys-10   ABOUT THE HOST Steve used to be a slave to his business but when he moved to Sweden in 2015, he was forced to change the way he worked.
