SYS 038: How Georges Verdis Used Systems to Reconnect With His Family and Became a Business Leader

Steve is joined by Georges Verdis, for an inspirational journey through a story that began with Georges as an estate agent in London, sometimes working upwards of fifty hours per week, which caused his personal life to suffer. However, in the space of six months, Georges had built systems into his business that allowed things to function without him.   In this show, Georges talks to Steve about the ways in which he overcame the many challenges involved in creating these systems, how he restructured his mind-set and why it matters, and the importance of ensuring that we strike a healthy work/life balance at all times.   KEY TAKEAWAYS    Freeing ourselves from the pressures of business in order to spend more quality time with family, means not just less visits to the office. It means cutting the cord completely. It is about being totally present. Breaking down every available individual task is crucial. Once this is done, we can assign each task to an individual member of the workforce, along with instruction on how to perform it. If no instructions exist, then they are created as the task is performed. You do not need to know the outcome of something you are attempting in order to get help in doing it. It doesn’t matter who attempts the task. All we need to know is if it is achievable, and there we find the win. When we seek to implement systems that free us from a business, there is always generally a fear of letting go. This is accompanied by an excitement at the possibilities that are ahead if the systems work. Implementing systems and creating the instructions for others to follow, may seem like a daunting task, but once a task has been systemised and documented, we never have to do it again. If we build incrementally, then all tasks can be documented and systemised in a very short space of time.   BEST MOMENTS  “It was a gradual process, to let go of things” “It’s all about recording whatever is being done in your business” “If I’m able to focus and spend my day in these three areas, it’s a win” “Sometimes I pinch myself and say “This thing is really working by itself”” “You see the world from a very different perspective”   VALUABLE RESOURCES Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/SystemsAndOutsourcing/  Website: https://systemsandoutsourcing.com/welcome-1  YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/drsteveday  London Executive - www.london-executive.com  ABOUT THE GUEST Georges Verdis is a London estate agent with over 15 years experience in the property industry.  Having started his career in the medical profession - with six years of training in London teaching hospitals and a further year in Health Care Management and Policy Making - Georges soon realised that estate agency was his passion.
