The laws as established in the Land of Israel.... when a son borrows against his father's property, and then the father dies -- a text that is then emended (if a son stole, instead of borrowing, and then the son died, instead of the father, what can the grandson do?). Also, a dilemma that was brought to Rav Sheshet - a son who inherits from his mother and wants to bequeath to his brothers who are not his mother's sons? He answers by way of analogy of a case of one who is taken captive and the implications of inheritance in the event of death.
