Kate Compton, Researcher & Maker | Tech+Art

Today we’re speaking with Kate Compton, an inventor, game designer, special effects artist, independent researcher. She’s also an academic with the Expressive Intelligence Studio at UC Santa Cruz, which is a group of researchers studying new ways to connect computers and creativity, that includes everything from interactive storytelling to social simulations to laser-cut robots. Kate has been working on Procedural Content Generation in a variety of contexts for more than ten years. From research papers like “The Casual Creators”, to generative frameworks like Generominos, to video games,  to little games, wild experiments and more.
