If You Think You’re Enlightened, Spend A Week With Your Family

Ram Dass once said “if you think you’re enlightened, spend a week with your family” and quite frankly, truer words have never been spoken.    No matter how much you like or dislike your relatives, NOTHING can test your sanity and strength quite like spending time with them. We’re approaching the holidays (hallelujah…) which means a lottttt of family time is coming our way and we’re the first to admit that no amount of self-work can prepare us. Fights, breakdowns, slamming doors and emergency therapy sessions might be as synonymous with this season as twinkly lights and turkey…BUT NOT THIS YEAR. Catherine and I sat down to discuss the tips and tricks we’ve learned to survive our families. We talk about the trickiness of our immediate family relationships, modern family 101, and run-ins with in-laws, as well as commiserate that despite how certain we are that we can keep our wits about us, our family has the unique super power to turn us back into our angsty 13-year-old selves.    Resources for today’s episode: “Grey Rocking” (so hot right now) https://www.healthline.com/health/grey-rock#know-when-to-use-it   Download this episode of Tell Me About It with Jade Iovine wherever you get your podcasts!
