TRL 101: The First Digital Nomad Country & Health Insurance for Nomads with Sarah Sandnes- CTO of SafetyWing

I am very excited because my guest today is none other than Sarah Sandnes the cofounder and CTO of Safety Wing. Safety Wing is one of the only health insurance providers specifically for digital nomads and remote workers. Insurance however is not the only thing that Safety Wing does, their end goal is to continue creating more services for nomads in order to create a larger "social safety net" for global citizens. This includes things like maternity leave, pensions, and much more. Their latest initiative is Plumia - the first "digital country" with which they hope to create the first globally-recognized passport not based on a country with borders. During this interview, I got to ask Sarah about her background, how she got involved with tech and what eventually drove her to start Safety Wing with her cofounders. We discussed how COVID-19 affected their business and their response to the pandemic and finally, we of course discussed Plumia and what their plan is for creating a new country and why they are so passionate to do so in the first place.
