She holds several leadership positions in various organizations including Women in Aviation and Sisters of the Skies. Zakiya holds a bachelor of science in aviation technology and a master of science in transportation engineering systems and technology from Texas Southern University. She is currently pursuing her doctorates degree in Computational Data Science Engineering at North Carolina A&T University.
