#25 - Master Your Distance with Jennifer Vollmann

On today’s episode you’ll hear from Jennifer Vollmann who is a mother, non-profit consultant, an Ironman athlete and coach! She juggles several different hats with ease and makes training for an Ironman competition look easy! The Ironman competition consists of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and 26.2 mile run. Jennifer hasn’t always been a triathlete, it took her time to find this sport and her rhythm! As a fitness junkie, she would run to the gym, catch a CrossFit workout and then run home like that was the normal thing to do! Marilyn Chychota (Guest on episode #23) saw her potential and got her started in her first sprint triathlon race! After her first race she was hooked! She has since continued to stretch her distance and has completed several Ironman competitions (she even completed two in one year!) Tune in to hear more about Jennifer’s story and how she got to where she is today! Here’s a glance at what you’ll learn during this episode: - How finding the right sport for each individual can take time sometimes even years to find what you love! - How inner self belief of being an athlete kept her going, when others couldn’t understand her vision, to get her where she is today as an endurance athlete! - Why surrounding yourself with a supportive, like-minded community is important! - What training for an Ironman competition looks like. - The nutrition needed to support high volume training. (Ben & Jerry’s is a must!) - The importance of finding a coach! - How to install a new habit of running and enjoy the process! - Tips + tricks for someone who is looking to get into triathlons but might not know where to start!
