067: The impact of culture in the coaching relationship

Jenny Plaister-Ten, Accredited Master Coach and Coaching Supervisor, joins Dr. Alexandra Morgan in a podcast about the impact of culture in coaching. Jenny argues that values are formed in our culture of origin; however, coaches are not trained to identify cultural values. Some coaches work at the level of values, yet, how our values are formed is often overlooked. Therefore, in a complex context such as a multi-national/cultural organization whose values take precedence and why? Who, if anyone, should allow their values to be eroded and why?  “Your cultural self is more just the personality; it is definitely a trench of values and beliefs that are out of awareness.”
