But they also inflicted enormous economic damage by shutting down entire industries. The effectiveness and severity of the lockdown measures has been one of the critical policy questions of our lifetimes. UNSW Professor of Economics Gigi Foster joins Paul Colgan, James Whelan, and Ken Veksler to discuss problems with the policy advice to governments and how the process might be improved in future.
