Ep11. Charlie Craggs - Extremely Iconic Icons

We are back for Season 2! I am not really sure what justifies having a Season 2, but after 10 eps and a big summer break that I thought it could be time. I am coming back with guest of all guests - activist and author Charlie Craggs. Charlie is the founder of Nail Transphobia, an organisation that seeks to educate people on trans issues and create new allies while giving manicures. We spoke about challenging perceptions of victimhood, the role of incredibly iconic icons, and the importance of remembering and memorialising trans figures who otherwise might not be remembered by the books. Charlie is hilarious and iconic herself, as well as being so thoughtful and passionate about creating change. I loved speaking to her, and I hope you love listening to.Once again a big ol thanks to Ally and Heli Shilson for their stunning tunes, and to Sophie Kamlish for her artwork! We are now on Spotify too! So give us a listen there too if you fancy :))))FINALLY if you're feeling friendly give us a nice rate and review <3 Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Om Podcasten

Hello, I am Lucy Hicks Beach, and I want to find out how people of marginalised genders have shaped the people we are and the world we live in. To do this, I am talking to some of the most interesting people around about the women and non-binary people who have shaped them. Each guest picks an influential figure from one of five categories: Someone they know personally, someone they've never met, someone who is no longer alive, a childhood or teenage icon and a fictional character. Ally and Helena Shilson have composed the celestial tunes throughout!  Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
