Joe Newman - Raising Lions

Joe Newman is the author of Raising Lions: The Art of Compassionate Discipline, and creator of the Raising Lions Method for adolescents presenting with ADHD. He has been featured on Goop, the Tools with Barry Michels, and many other podcasts. His method has been studied at the University of California in Santa Barbara, and he is currently writing his second book. He is the behavior problem child who grew up to teach parents about their own children. Joe notes, “You need to treat the child with a whole lot more respect and a higher expectation. You can do that compassionately. If you have that kind of relationship, while there's a natural cause and effect environment that naturally encourages the behavior you want, then you'll see a change.” In this episode, The Brain Possible Founder & CEO, Emily Abbott and Joe discuss how parents and caregivers can better understand their child’s challenging behavior and how to turn chaos into a peaceable, functioning family rhythm. Listen in to find out more about the Raising Lions method and why it’s so different than other parenting techniques.Support the show
