6 Life Lessons From my Car Flipping Journey
This week, I'm actually going back into storytelling mode. I'm going to share my entire car flipping journey, but I really want to hone in on the crucial life lessons that I learned throughout the entire journey. These are the lessons that shifted my entire thinking and helped me to reach the point that I am at right now. My goal is more than simply teaching you what I learned. The truth is that if car flipping, whether on the side or on a full-time basis is YOUR goal, it WILL NOT HAPPEN... UNLESS YOU TAKE ACTION... Throughout the course of my life, I have had a number of these paradigm shifts, but life doesn't change or get better because you think it will. Things start to happen when you actively act upon the lessons you learn. (7:45) "Sometimes you get lucky." I do not mean to say that all the flips and circumstances that have happened to my benefit are pure luck. Realistically, the lesson learned is that value is relative. Market value does set in stone the typical value of a given product, but the true value of any product, service or vehicle is what someone is willing to pay for it. Occasionally, I have a Jeep or Equinox priced higher than market value just to see what happens, and someone is more than happy to pay what I'm asking to get what they want. (10:05) Buying and selling cars pays more than flipping chicken. Car sales may have a larger investment and a longer sales cycle, but the math makes better sense than to be flipping chicken for an hourly wage. (13:11)If you do what you enjoy, and get good at it, good things will come of it. This moment in life taught me that you can do what you enjoy, and make money doing it. (14:45) Through the dealership with my dad, I learned a few things. I learned the ins and outs of the business side, as well as how to scale my car flipping practices.
