Jenny and I complete our series on Hegel. In this episode we discuss the ”Ugly Hegel,” those Hegelians who followed the logic of Hegel’s positions to the devastation of our Western world. About ten minutes into this episode we abandon the more didactic approach we’ve been following throughout this series and turn to C. S. Lewis’ Perelandra to exemplify the problem. Lewis was a convert to Christianity from Idealism, and he was intimately acquainted with its pernicious thought-structures and seductive logic. The character of the great physicist, Weston, in the second book of the Space Trilogy, represents the pervasive influence of Hegelian doctrine within the academic world of his day.
