Terrors on the River of Doubt: Roosevelt's Most Dangerous Adventure | E 144

"Terrors on the River of Doubt" follows former President Theodore Roosevelt's harrowing 1914 expedition into the uncharted Amazon rainforest. After losing his bid for a third presidential term, Roosevelt joined a poorly planned expedition to map a mysterious tributary of the Amazon. What followed was a nightmare journey marked by starvation, flesh-eating bacteria, murder among the crew, and near-death experiences that would ultimately contribute to Roosevelt's death five years later. Despite the extreme hardships, the expedition successfully mapped what would later be renamed the Roosevelt River and collected thousands of scientific specimens, though many initially doubted the incredible tale of survival.
