Research is showing that high fructose corn syrup can cause a double whammo when it comes to declining levels of vitamin D in our bodies. To break down fructose, the body produces an enzyme which in turn breaks down vitamin D, and this enzyme also weakens the other enzymes needed to create vitamin D.
