In an attempted return to Earth, the TARDIS crew find themselves in the year 2167, where a rebellion has formed against the tyrannical rule of the Daleks, thousands of years before their last encounter on Skaro. Turning humans into "robomen" used to control the masses, the Daleks have a plan the involves digging a hole all the way to the planet's core as the human resistance desperately tries to find a plan to stop them with the help of the Doctor and Ian.
