The newly rebuilt TARDIS lands on the planet Peladon on its first test flight where the Doctor and Jo are mistaken for dignitaries in the midst of determining the result of the planet's application to join the Galactic Federation. But when a superstitious curse begins to seemingly come true, a possible conspiracy unfolds that could keep Peladon out of the Federation forever unless the Doctor can navigate intergalactic politics to solve a murder mystery and convince the newly crowned King that the curse isn't real.
