Alex Murdaugh's Appeal on Federal Financial Crimes Was Denied

Alex Murdaugh was sentenced federally for conspiracy to commit wire fraud, bank fraud, and money laundering. Murdaugh made a plea deal with the feds to plea guilty because he had already admitted to the crimes during the the state's murder trial.The judge sentenced him to 40 years which was more than the prosecution recommended. The judge said they did this to send a message to deter attorneys who may want to steal from their clients.Alex Murdaugh Appealed the sentencing but the government dismissed it because part of the plea was that he would not appeal the decisions that would be made. Murdaugh's murder case is still going through the appeal process for new trial due to Becky Hill's interference and his appeal on the murder conviction is still on hold.
