Inside The Security Protocol Of The United States Secret Service

On Saturday July 13th, the nation stood still as news broke of an assassination attempt on former President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania. Mere moments after President Trump took the stage at a rally there, shots were fired from the top of a roof nearby, striking the former President’s right ear, killing a local firefighter, Corey Comperatore, and injuring two others. The shooter, later identified by the FBI as 20-year-old, Thomas Matthew Crooks, was killed on the scene by United State Secret Service. In the days following the horrific event, questions have emerged regarding the security efforts to sweep and secure the area before the event. Most importantly, how did this fatal misstep occur? Retired Supervisory Special Agent with the United States Secret Service and the President of Capitol Security Consulting, Jeff James joins to give his expert analysis on the security protocol of the United States Secret Service and his initial reaction to the tragedy that ensued on Saturday.
