Adam Howard is an old friend of mine and someone who mentored me through my writing endeavors in Telemark skiing. He grew up in Jeffersonville, Vermont where he learned to ski at a very young age. He did some Telemark racing on the east coast in the early 90s before heading out west to attend Western State Colorado University in Gunnison, CO. He worked on the college newspaper during that time and this was his introduction into ski writing. After ski patrolling in the winters and pounding nails in the summer, along with some freelance writing, he was presented with the opportunity to acquire Backcountry Magazine with some others. They released their first issue, as the new owners, in 2002. He’s always been a huge supporter of Telemark skiing, both through his own endeavors and supporting others like myself.
