#139 - Art Burrows | Designer & Telemark Pioneer
Art Burrows hails from the beautiful state of Colorado where he grew up on the front range near Golden. He started skiing from a young age with his family and by the age of 12 would even hitchhike to the resorts by himself to get some turns in. He was exposed to nordic-style backcountry touring some time in the early to mid-1970s which later led him into discovering the Telemark turn. By the late 1970s he and other early Telemark skiers, like his friend Paul Parker, began seeking bigger mountain objectives to drop knees on. As a designer he was involved with Phoenix skis, designing top sheets, graphics, and even a magazine that came out to promote the brand. And in the 1990s he was an integral part of helping design the T1 Telemark boot with Scarpa that included an assymetric bellow on the toe of the boot.
