Andrew Quilty is a photographer and reporter who has lived in Kabul, Afghanistan, since 2013. In “When the Raids Came,” his article for the September issue of Harper’s Magazine, Quilty follows the story of one family in rural Wardak province over nearly twenty years of war, offering a holistic view of the U.S. military’s impact.
